Since 2003, International Missionary Network has provided a Christian education to schoolchildren in Manipur, India. Scholarships are offered to children who are orphans, who are very poor or who only have one parent to care for them. Education is provided 6 days per week to Nursery (age 3) to Class 10 (age 15). The school year starts in February and ends in December.
The following 3 schools are supported by IMN donors:
1. Chi Ching MK Academy for grades Nursery to Class 10, started out of the home of the founder, Vasti. The school grew out of the home and IMN purchased land, built a building and provided the basics for the new school. IMN has provided the salaries for the 17 teachers and administrators for 20 years. Through the years, self-sustaining businesses have been started to help the school to become self-sufficient. It was a long journey because about half of the 400 students are on scholarship, but at the end of 2023, the school will be fully self-sustaining. IMN will continue to provide Christmas gifts, Christmas feasts and other items as the need arises, but the salaries for the teachers will be fully provided by the school.
2. MK Hope Academy was built by IMN after 5 villages in this remote area of Manipur asked for a school. The village gave land to IMN and a school was built for children in the village of Marou and the surrounding area. This school started in 2000 and has 150 children. IMN is working on self-sustaining this school through boarding houses and other businesses.
3. S.V.Y.V. Hope Academy in a small village north of Chi Ching Academy. This village also had no schooling available for the children. The school is operating out of a building that was already built and prepared for use as a school. There are 80 children in this academy.
